JR Chinchilla Sand (Special) consist clay-containing sepiolite, which, in contrast to normal, quartz-containing chinchilla sand, is porous and is therefore particularly good at removing fat and other impurities from the chinchilla's fur. In this way, the fur retains its naturally silky sheen. This special sand has no sharp edges and therefore does not cause dull or brittle fur.
